The simple things like enjoying your favorite meal alone or with your partner to making love as often as you want are things many of us love to do. I say why, should we have to wait for a special day or a sick day to pamper ourselves or someone we love. The same instructions we receive in the safety manual of a commercial airplane should apply to our lives daily; you must place that air mask on yourself first before you can help another person. Give yourself permission to love, Take care of you first and you will always be better equipped to help others.

Permission to Love
I think we adults are so caught up in the everyday chores, responsibilities and over analyzing of our lives that we often forget that we are human; as humans we need love just like any living creature. That sense of taking time out to show your love for the people and things that we love are just as important as showing up to work, paying bills, taking care of the kids.

Because I Love
I woke this morning happy as a Bird in Spring. I started to reminisce on the little wonderful things in my life, and I came up with a poem.
Because I love I sang a song to you this morning
Because I love I woke up to sunshine in my eyes with no windows around
Because I love I see beauty when I look in the mirror
Because I love I walk with two pep's in my step
Because I love I see flowers everywhere on my subway ride to work
Because I love I see you everywhere I go
Because I love
Let me know what you think of my poem, or you have one you would like to share please do so in the comments.

On the Topic of Romance
It's not every day that I get a few minutes in my day to just sit and think of nothing important, not my schedule, to do list, bills or appointments; and in that moment in those few minutes of silence I often find myself thinking of my boyfriend. I think of the moments we have spent together, and look forward to more sweet moments like those.
I realize that not everyone has that special someone in their life, and many of us who are in relationships don't always spend as much time as we would like to with our signinafigant other.
My point ? You might be asking yourself, my point is I want to savor every minute I get with my partner so that I have those moments that help get me through my day.
What triggers you to think of that special someone in your life ?

Mercedes Cruz - My Writing Process
What am I working on?
I am working on my first novel "Plato Sucio" (working title). I am trying to keep my characters as real to NYC Latinos as I can without giving into stereotypes.
How does my work differ from others in its genre?
I would like to think that my work differs from others in that I have mainly Latino characters. Although I was once told by a romance writing professor that the ethnicity of the characters should not be an issue or make the novel any different. I strongly dis-agreed with that professor. Just like people in different socio-economic backgrounds differ in experiences, there is no doubt that ethnicity plays a role in the characters life. Yes of course assimilation is a natural accruing process when it comes to lifestyle. However I strongly feel that my characters embody both the American side where they where born and raised and their parents nationality.
Why do I write what I do?
I write because I find it therapeutic; it helps me release the thoughts I have running around in my mind. Some people use gloves and a punching bag, I use a pen and paper and sometimes my hands and laptop. When I started writing I just wanted to write romance I did not choose a genre, I sort of just fell into Erotica.
How does my writing process work?
I make it a habit to write daily, some days I don't get to but I add it to my calendar and make it the last thing I do at night. I also don't answer calls or get up from my seat until I finish writing the amount of time I said I would. By using a timer I control how long my writing session will be.
